Chainstitch Embroidery Workshops - Thursdays 1-3pm

Have you been curious to try using a chainstitch embroidery machine? Our intro-level class will guide you through the process, from designing your image to threading and securing your design. In this 2-hour intro class, you will have the opportunity create a custom embroidery on an item you bring.

This class is taught 1:1, though you can bring a friend if you'd like to learn together and share the machine. 

Location: Form Era Studio, 1024 Dupont St, unit 22

Materials: Please bring one or more items to embroider. Examples include a pair of jeans, a denim jacket, a shirt, a tote bag, napkins, etc. Thread and embroidery backing will be provided.

About the Instructor: Katie Switzer

Katie Switzer is an artist and clothing designer with more than 20 years of experience in garment construction and fashion and surface design techniques.

She studied at OCAD University and George Brown College, focusing on patternmaking, sewing techniques, and materials exploration. Since 2024, she has operated Form Era Studio, a made-in-Toronto denim brand, where she designs and manufactures premium Japanese denim garments tailored for a non-stretch curvy fit.

Katie has taught students from beginners to advanced makers, and is passionate about helping people build confidence, technical skills, and creativity through hands-on sewing experience.
